In collaboration with RISD's student run publishing group V.1, the Museum Guild hosted a launch party for their spring 2022 edition about the sound of places beyond the infrastructure we already know. The event consisted of live poetry readings, discussions, and hands-on activities that explored concepts of space and belonging.
After readings of their work, contributors of the publication engaged in conversations with the attendees- answering questions and giving us an insight to their creative processes.
To reflect and react to these discussions, participants were then invited to respond to prompts by creating visual depictions of their responses. The prompts read:
Imagine a place where you feel safe. How does it look?
Draw a 'map' of a place you have a love/hate relationship with.

The second activity was creating post cards that would be sent out a place one considers 'home'.
Re-using old museum resources, these postcards were kept in storage being unused and this activity gave new life to them. Participants created drawings, collages, and added text for loved ones and memorable places.
It was interesting to see the variety of responses produced by participants. While some people drew familiar spaces, other incorporated people, commercial spaces, and capitalistic institutions.
